About Tractor Seat Springs
A tractor seat spring carries the vibration and shock reaching the driver. Over long hours in the field the seat is not about comfort but health: once the spring fatigues, the shock passes straight into the back. That makes the seat spring one of the parts that affects the operator most, even though it never stops the machine.
This is a compression spring, and in a compression spring failure begins not with breakage but with a loss of free length. A spring working above the permissible stress settles a little on every cycle; its force drops and the seat gradually sinks. If the seat no longer rises as it used to, the spring has lost its length — there is no need to look for a broken part in the mechanism.
Production is based on the wire diameter, outside diameter, free length and coil count of the original part, and the spring fits without modification to the seat. On bellows type seats the installation length differs, so those are produced as a separate item.

The seat bottoms out — should the spring be replaced?
Most likely yes. In a compression spring failure begins with loss of free length rather than breakage; if the seat no longer rises as it used to, the spring has lost force. Comparing it with a new spring, or measuring an equivalent spring on the same tractor, is a quick check.

What is the difference between bellows type and standard type?
On bellows seats the installation length of the suspension group differs, so the spring is produced as a separate item. Simply state whether the seat is a bellows type when ordering.
I do not know the brand — can I order by dimensions?
Yes. Given wire diameter, outside diameter, free length and coil count, brand information is not needed. If you do not have those values, a photograph of the old spring next to a ruler will do.
Would a stiffer spring improve comfort?
No, it does the opposite. An over-stiff spring transmits the shock instead of absorbing it. Staying close to the original force gives the right result.
How often does a seat spring need replacing?
It depends on working hours and ground conditions. The criterion is condition, not time: once free length has shortened or the seat starts bottoming out, it is time to replace it.
