Gaspardo items in our catalogue

The Gaspardo items in our catalogue sit mainly in the seed drill group: the press wheel spring, the coulter spring, and the short and long versions of the rear press wheel spring. One item from the hay rake group joins them.

On a seed drill the job of these springs is to hold sowing depth constant. The press wheel spring keeps a steady force on the part that closes the soil over the seed; the coulter spring works in the opener assembly. When either loses force, sowing depth varies across the field and emergence becomes uneven — behind what is described in the field as "the drill is out" there is usually a fatigued spring.

The distinguishing difficulty in this group is the working environment. The parts are in constant contact with soil and moisture, and corrosion lowers spring force through loss of cross-section. Coating here is therefore functional rather than cosmetic, and galvanised finish is standard in our production.

The short and long versions of the rear press wheel spring appear as separate items in our catalogue. Confirming which one you need before ordering prevents surprises during fitting; where there is doubt, a photograph of the old part next to a ruler settles it.

How it is made

Every step after coiling happens in our own plant; nothing is outsourced. This shortens lead times and keeps quality responsibility in one pair of hands.

01

CNC coiling

Formed across the 0.20–40 mm wire range.

02

Tempering

Stress is relieved; elasticity becomes permanent.

03

End grinding

Seating faces are flattened on compression springs.

04

Galvanising

Surface protection against corrosion.

05

Packing

Domestic and export logistics included.

Frequently asked questions

Do you make Gaspardo seed drill springs to original dimensions?

Yes. They are produced from the wire diameter, body dimensions, coil direction and leg form of the original part, and fit without modification to the machine.

Are the press wheel spring and the coulter spring the same thing?

No. The press wheel spring loads the part that closes soil over the seed; the coulter spring works in the opener assembly. They are separate items in our catalogue.

How do I tell whether I need the short or the long rear press wheel spring?

Both versions are separate items in our catalogue. Where there is doubt, a photograph of the old part next to a ruler makes the match certain.

Sowing depth varies across the field — could a spring be the cause?

Very likely. When opener and press wheel springs fatigue, the part rides up on hard ground and depth falls. Comparing the free length against the original is a quick check.

Can you make a Gaspardo spring that is not in the list?

Yes. Our coiling line works across the 0.20–40 mm wire range with no tooling dependency; we produce from a sample, a technical drawing or dimensions.

About the brand names

Metiş Yay is an independent spring manufacturer. The machine brand names on these pages are used solely to indicate which machines our products fit; they do not imply any authorised dealership, distributorship or official association with any brand. All brand names belong to their respective owners.

Cannot find the spring you need?

We produce to your dimensions in the 0.20–40 mm wire range, with no tooling dependency. A sample, a technical drawing, or simply a photograph of the old spring is enough.
