Sönmez Springs
Springs working on Sönmez balers — two separate items, turbo and old model, made to the original dimensions.
Sönmez items in our catalogue
There are two items for Sönmez in our catalogue and they separate on a different axis: the turbo baler spring and the old model baler spring. The distinction here has less to do with machine type than with machine age — the manufacturer changed the pickup group over time, so different springs run in older and newer bodies.
Finding spares for older machines is usually the real problem in the field. When a manufacturer drops a model, original spares are withdrawn from the market over time — while the machine keeps working. On our side that is not an obstacle: because production follows dimensions rather than tooling, however long ago the model was discontinued, the spring can be coiled again as long as you have a sample or a set of dimensions.
So if you have an older Sönmez machine, the most valuable thing you hold is the old spring itself — even a broken one. Wire diameter, body inner diameter and winding direction can all be read from a broken part; for free length, an unbroken example or the installed dimension on the machine is enough.
Sönmez springs work in the baler group, where the loading is impact loading. Once free length shortens permanently, bale density drops and tying becomes irregular. The most practical way to decide without waiting for breakage is to compare free length against the original.

How it is made
Every step after coiling happens in our own plant; nothing is outsourced. This shortens lead times and keeps quality responsibility in one pair of hands.
CNC coiling
Formed across the 0.20–40 mm wire range.
Tempering
Stress is relieved; elasticity becomes permanent.
End grinding
Seating faces are flattened on compression springs.
Galvanising
Surface protection against corrosion.
Packing
Domestic and export logistics included.
Frequently asked questions
Are the turbo and old model springs the same?
No. The manufacturer changed the pickup group over time, so different springs run in older and newer bodies. They are two separate items in our catalogue; state which one you need when ordering.
My machine is very old — can spares still be found?
Yes. Because our production follows dimensions rather than tooling, however long ago the model was discontinued the spring can be coiled again from a sample or a set of dimensions.
My spring is broken — is it still useful?
It is. Wire diameter, body inner diameter and winding direction can be read from a broken part. For free length, an unbroken example or the installed dimension on the machine is enough.
When should a Sönmez spring be replaced?
When free length has shortened permanently against the original. The signs are falling bale density and irregular tying; there is no need to wait for breakage.
Can you make a Sönmez spring that is not on the list?
Yes. Our coiling line works in the 0.20–40 mm wire range with no tooling dependency; we produce from a sample, a technical drawing or a set of dimensions.

About the brand names
Metiş Yay is an independent spring manufacturer. The machine brand names on these pages are used solely to indicate which machines our products fit; they do not imply any authorised dealership, distributorship or official association with any brand. All brand names belong to their respective owners.
Cannot find the spring you need?
We produce to your dimensions in the 0.20–40 mm wire range, with no tooling dependency. A sample, a technical drawing, or simply a photograph of the old spring is enough.
